“I hope that when we close this chapter, everyone will have come out with a better side of themselves. And stick to the new me and new you”.
You are reading the “New Normal” series, for which I’ve invited a few beautiful souls to open the doors, figuratively of course, to their homes and lives, and share the stories of their new reality — how does that look and feel? How are they adapting? How has it shifted their mindset and approach to life? They also share their #stayhome and #WFH tips and recommendations in the self-care guide at the end. In this chapter, I speak with a very dear friend of mine, the multi-talented AUDE GIRAUD, who, when she’s not running her floral business, Ask A French, is making music and being her awesome self—unapologetically.
Karman: Ca va? How are you feeling today?
Aude: Coucou, ça va bien et toi? 🙂 I’m good today. Grateful to be well and healthy. Thinking of those who are struggling because of the virus and feeling helpless.
K: I haven’t seen you in a while. Which feels quite strange because we are used to meeting up for yoga class or to hang out at your home for tea. Can you describe how life has been, what the “new normal” looks like for you?
A: I’m in a carpe diem state of mind, as long as I have flowers and I can send them to other people and bring little joy to their space. I realise now more than ever how important it is to enjoy the little things in life. Waking up to the smell of tea or coffee, having video calls with loved ones, living in the moment.
The most challenging thing has been to accept the uncertainty of tomorrow. I find positivity in music. The music that I listen to and the music that I make. One day I’ll be able to share my songs with everyone — they have been on Stay Home Notice at my producer Leonard Soosay’s. 🙂 Meanwhile, I’ve made a little PEACEFUL PLAYLIST specially for THE COEUR.
K: Your work is all about creating and bringing joy and comfort to others. How have you been connecting with friends, fans, family and your customers from a distance?
“THE HEART HAS ITS REASONS, OF WHICH REASON KNOWS NOTHING.”
A: I’ve been doing virtual floral arrangement workshops for my clients. I think it’s important to keep a connection with your community, and Instagram has always been a precious tool for me to do that. Music-wise, I started to post videos of me playing and singing. Music heals the soul.
K: What change in the world do you hope to see when we’ve come out of this on the other side?
A: I hope that when we close this chapter, everyone will have come out with a better side of themselves. And stick to the “new me” / “new you”.
K: I’d like to invite you now to send your self and anyone who’s reading this a message line of love and light.
A: “Le cœur a ses raisons que la raison ne connaît point.” From the philosopher Blaise Pascal. It literally means: “The heart has its reasons, of which reason knows nothing.”
K: Merci, mon amie. (I can’t wait to see you tomorrow—finally.)
A: Merci à toi et vive le cœur.
