“This period has helped us all realise that lot of what we thought we needed was actually unnecessary. We can make do with what we have. We don’t need to have everything we see. We can be content.”

“Life has taken quite a turn in the last few months, and we’ve had little choice but to adapt to a new way of living and find a new rhythm. When we first entered into the ‘circuit breaker’ phase, I felt that my life was literally turned upside down. I went from being a sought-after host, needing to squeeze time for myself and my family, to having zero work. It was humbling, disappointing and frustrating, but it has given me the time and space to work on things that I had been putting off for quite some time — my website, reorganising my wardrobe, connecting with myself and my loved ones.
I used to struggle with the concept of ‘slow-living’ because my life has always moved at a million miles a minute. It took me three weeks into the circuit breaker to press pause and just soak up my surroundings. I’ve used this time to change up how I take care of myself. I started masking (almost) daily, I try to sleep earlier, and here’s my favourite: I started waking up earlier to stretch, breathe and allow my body the time to rouse from slumber gently. It’s been a refreshing change. I am happier, calmer and way more productive than ever.

You know, life is pretty awesome, it’s about finding joy in the little things in life. I am reminded how privileged I am — I have a home, I have food, I have the means and ability to exercise and enjoy it. I do worry about money, the lack of work, the future, but I have also come to realise that a lot of that is out of my control, and acknowledging that allows me to let that weight slide off my shoulders.
I think this period has helped us all realise that a lot of what we thought we needed was actually unnecessary. We can make do with what we have. We don’t need to have everything we see. We can be content. I endeavour to continue living a little slower and making sure that I don’t miss the moments I have when I’m busy being busy with work.”
